Great partership with Canada Safeway
Part of Dan-D Foods’ continuous success lies in its ability to provide its customers with an excellent customer service, a wide range of products catering to every taste and flexibility. Each of our customer’s success story is different, but each is unique and inspiring to share…
Canada Safeway focuses on providing world class service to customers by exceeding their expectations. The development of Safeway’s “Lifestyle” stores is a critical strategy that sets Safeway stores apart. Lifestyle stores are designed for busy customers who want to find everything in one place, great selection, knowledgeable staff, specialty items, and ready-to-eat meals.
On June 12, 2013, it was announced that Safeway Inc. has entered into an agreement to sell the assets of Canada Safeway Limited to Sobeys Inc. for a cash purchase price of Cdn. $5.8 billion. Subject to a customary review by the competition bureau, the transaction should close this fall.
Company slogan “Ingredients for life”, created and launched in April of 2005, promotes the well-being of the shoppers, employees and community as a whole. The slogan represents a healthy lifestyle and a very engaging shopping experience. Safeway offers its shoppers a great value on quality nutrition through their Everyday Low Prices and Club Card Specials programs.
Safeway stands by its promise “Creating better lives, vibrant neighbourhoods and a healthier planet” by introducing a variety of employee incentives, “green” practices and charity programs. From expanding the in-store organic offerings to introducing earth friendlier household items and zero waste commitments, Canada Safeway continuously makes a difference in our everyday lives.
Caring for the community is an integral part of Safeway and for over 80 years, Safeway has been an active member in the communities where their customers and employees live and work. In 2012 Canada Safeway made over $19 million in donations to community organizations. Established in 2002, the Canada Safeway Foundation ensures this tradition of caring continues by supporting initiatives that feed, protect and nurture children and families in Western Canada. Together with their customers, employees, suppliers and charitable partners they strive to improve the health and wellness of Canadians by investing in a range of innovative programs, creating successful partnerships with non-profit organizations and raising awareness for such causes as cancer research and families who are living with disabilities.
Dan-D Foods has begun its partnership with Canada Safeway in August of 2010 and has come a long way since then. Starting off with a trial order of a handful of Dan-D-Pak products for their produce section, it took months of committed work on both sides to grow the business, cultivate this opportunity and unlock the full potential, although there is always room for growth.
Some of the very first items listed with Canada Safeway were Dan-D-Pak wasabi peas, Philippine mangos, dried goji berries, organic chestnuts, sunflower seeds, chocolate and yogurt covered pretzels, which had since become regular Safeway items as the sales volume had been increasing with every consecutive order. The clip strip program in the produce section still remains one of the most successful merchandising solutions and is now widely used by other customers as well.
As the sales of Dan-D-Pak products in Safeway stores were steadily increasing, so was our brand presence. The new products, both regular and seasonal, were successfully launched and sold across Canada including flavoured almonds, pumpkin seeds, salad crunchy mix, flax seeds, pine nuts and more.
Next in the works are our new and exciting products, that the consumers will see in Safeway stores as early as next month, such as the Salad Topping, a unique blend of nuts and dried fruits, raw almonds in a new foil bag and unsalted pistachios, just to name a few.
Dan-D Foods’ partnership with Canada Safeway goes far beyond business relationship. We have been a proud supporter of Safeway’s charitable events, such as The Canada Safeway Foundation Reception, the Calgary Produce Marketing Association’s Annual Golf Tournament and we are members of the Canadian Produce Marketing Association.
We look forward to a continuous success with Canada Safeway and new and exciting endeavours to undertake.
